What a comment flow does
A comment flow watches one post, one reel, or all posts for comments that match a keyword. When it matches it does two things: replies publicly under the comment, so other viewers see you are responsive, and sends the commenter a DM with the detail they asked for, such as a price, a link or a catalogue.
The public reply is optional. Many sellers keep it short ("Sent you a DM!") and put the real content in the message.
Create the flow
- 1Go to Automations, Comment flows, and press New flow.
- 2Pick the trigger: a specific post or reel from the media picker, or All posts for an always-on keyword.
- 3Add keywords. "PRICE", "LINK" and "INFO" are the usual ones. Matching is case-insensitive, and you can choose exact, contains, starts with, ends with or regex.
- 4Write the public reply. Trentzy rotates between the variants you add, so replies do not look copy-pasted.
- 5Write the DM. Add the link, price or quick replies. You can insert the commenter's name.
- 6Press Create. The flow is live immediately; comment on the post from another account to test it.
Tips that get more sales
- Tell people the keyword in the caption: "Comment PRICE and I will DM you."
- Ask a question in the DM so they reply. A reply opens the 24-hour messaging window and makes follow-up possible.
- Pair the flow with a product reply so the DM shows the product card with price and a Buy button.
- Use the giveaway tool for contests instead of a comment flow; it handles entries and winner selection.
Why a DM might not send
Instagram only lets a business send a DM to someone who commented if that person allows messages from businesses, which almost everyone does. If the commenter has blocked message requests, the public reply still goes out and the flow records the DM as skipped.
If the account is missing the messages permission, Trentzy blocks the flow from being created until you press Fix permissions in Settings.
